Keith Hannay, MD Joins Winthrop West Senior Living
Winthrop West Assisted Living, a Senior Living Community specializing in the care of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, is pleased to announce that Keith Hannay, MD, recently joined the
staff as Medical Director.
As Medical Director, Dr. Hannay will promote and be an advocate for general geriatric wellness as it relates to Alzheimer’s disease. Providing clinical leadership, Hannay will interact, communicate, and collaborate with Winthrop staff, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and families regarding urgent care needs of residents. He will offer guidance in the areas of rehabilitative services, coordination of home health services, and other preventative health care needs.
Hannay earned his medical doctorate from the University Of South Florida College Of Medicine. He completed his residency at Naval Regional Medical Center NAS in Jacksonville, Fl. Dr.Hannay holds a CAQ certification in Geriatrics and lectures on Alzheimer’s related topics.
Dr. Hannay served as a staff physician at Cherry Point Naval Hospital, held a Private Practice in Summerville, Ga. and served as Associate Director of Rome Family Medicine Residency Program. He currently serves as Medical Director for three local nursing homes, a home health agency and a hospice group.

Wempe and McBride Join Winthrop West
Winthrop West Assisted Living, a Senior Living Community specializing in the care of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Wempe, FNP, BC and Deborah W. McBride RN, BSN, have joined the staff as nurse practitioners.
Under the direction of Medical Director, Dr. Keith Hannay, Wempe and McBride will participate in the community’s ongoing initiative to promote the wellness of Winthrop residents with emphasis on the management of minor acute illnesses and chronic complex health needs of older adults to maximize their functional level and independence.

Working with both residents and families, Wempe and McBride will serve as a source of support and a vital communications link in connecting with the resident’s healthcare providers. They will determine the need for preventive or diagnostic healthcare services, coordinate those services, and communicate with the appropriate parties.
Wempe received her MSN, FNP from MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Ma in 1997. She worked for Polk Medical Center, with Dr. Neil Gordon, providing acute care, long term care, and home visits from 1999-2000. She has worked for Floyd Medical Center since 2000 in Long Term Care.
Wempe and her family reside in Rome.
McBride joined Floyd Medical Center in the long-term care setting in 2003. McBride earned her masters degree from Georgia State University's Family Nurse Practitioner Program in 1998. She also has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Troy State University and an associate degree in nursing from Columbus State University. Before joining Floyd Medical Center, McBride worked with Evercare/Collaborative Solutions in the long-term care setting and with Primary Care Specialists, an internal medicine practice, in
Stockbridge, Georgia. Additionally, she has several years of nursing care of the geriatric population in the home health setting.
McBride was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society while at Georgia State and is affiliated with the Northwest Georgia Nurse Practitioner's Organization. She is a certified family nurse practitioner with The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She has coauthored articles for The Journal of Psychosocial Nursing, The Practicing Nurse, and The Home Health Care Nurse.
McBride and her family reside in Rome.
