What Winthrop Means to Executive Director Carol Saunders

I have always enjoyed being around my elders and seniors. Growing up in the gypsy life of a military brat, I was not able to be around my grandparents much, so when we visited home I always found myself drawn to them. I accepted my first position working with seniors in assisted living in 1993 and have since realized that it was not just a job but also a calling and lifestyle that God led me to. I take care of my seniors as I would have my own parents or grandparents taken care of – and nothing is too good for my parents!

We are all put on this earth for a reason. I am blessed to have learned that helping seniors is mine.

Testimonials from our Residents

There are many changes in a life time. One of these changes is to give up that home we loved so much and took care of. Now the time for the change is here. Let someone take care of you. The management and helpers are very attentive; we also have 3 nourishing meals a day. We don’t even have to count our pills. The place is clean (that means so much). It is comfortable and attractive for you. If you want privacy you can go to your room and close the door. If you want company go to the activity room or parlor, this place is Winthrop at Polk Senior Living. I am glad I found Winthrop at Polk when I had to make that change in my life.

Mary Lou Davis

My mother, Marjorie Meeler, has been a Winthrop at Polk resident since January 2008. I have found the management as well as all the care givers to be extremely loving and efficient. They promptly see to the needs of the residents as they arise.

Winthrop At Polk as well as the care givers are available and willing to listen and comfort families of the residents offering advice and the council of their experience when needed. In my case this has been often.

The rooms are kept clean and the laundry is done in a timely fashion. The food is nourishing and well presented in a beautiful dining room. Holidays are festive. Birthday parties are held monthly. The ladies feel special, getting their nails and hair done weekly. There are special entertainment groups who perform often.

I thank God for Winthrop at Polk.

Sincerely,

Penelope Gaither
